Karibu !

It's time for a new adventure in Africa, but this time, in the East side. I am in Tanzania for work. But work on what? On the conservation of Tanzanian fauna as research assistant for a small organization, called Kilombero Valley Ornithological Center (If you want to know more, I advise you to go see "My work within the Kilombero Valley"). This was my first real job in the biodiversity conservation after my master's degree.

Initially, I had planned to leave for about 6 months. But due to some changes ans unforeseen, my stay was finally on three months, plus a month behind to work on the data and report.

During these three months I did and saw so many things .. I saw incredible landscapes .. I discovered and could identify many species of reptiles and amphibians .. Highlight my skills and knowledge on conservation studies .. Observe all kinds of large mammals in their natural environment during my work and to say that it is my job. I remember one evening when I had the luck to observe a small group of elephants by a river and to approach them, a few hundred meters .. Thing unimaginable! I have, of course, done a safari, two days in the Mikumi National Park (see "It's time for a safari")..  I went also to do some hiking in Udzungwa National Park, with its dense forests and waterfalls (see "Udzungwa, a safari trekking") .. Played football with the children of the village, and even with the older child, but there is not the same level (very hard to run under this heat). I also gave courses on ecology and the importance of wildlife to primary and secondary schools in the area.. Running after poachers in the bush .. Attending a graduation of young schoolchildren .. and lots more.

In short, I lived a stay just incredible and unforgettable.. Here, a little insight...

So as you can read it and see it, I had great moments. I would say that he missed a thing to do for me, it was to not climb the famous Kilimanjaro.. May be a next time.. Because as I like to say, you never know what the future you reserve..
